PROFESSIONAL VIDEO FAQS

Why choose Black Tie Entertainment for your wedding video?
At Black Tie Entertainment we have been in the wedding business since 1989. We enjoy customizing our DJ & video services to achieve (& capture) your idea of fun. We strive to produce professional videos at an affordable price. We have an eye for capturing great footage and the skills to edit it into a storyline that is enjoyable to watch.

How many cameras do you use?
At each ceremony we use two cameras. One camera does not move and usually is placed in the choir loft or at the rear of the church to capture a wide shot that we use in the editing process. The second camera is a manned camera that is used to get all the other shots used in the final product. During the reception we use one camera only, although a second camera can be used for an additional fee.

What kind of equipment do you use?
We use 3 CCD Digital Video cameras on all our video shoots. The Sony VX2100 and the Panasonic DVX100A...both are great 3 chip cameras. Both cameras have internal microphones to pick up most of the audio throughout the day however, during the ceremony we fit the groom with a wireless mic to pick up the vows clearly. We also use wireless mics for the best man/matron of honor toasts, guest interviews as well as any readers at the ceremony.

Do you use extra light sources when recording?
We use on camera lights when the shot calls for it. Typically most churches are lit well enough to not need extra lighting but sometimes we need to, this all depends on the individual church or ceremony location. We almost ALWAYS use an on camera light at receptions because of the low light mood set for most receptions. However, we are diligent about remaining unobtrusive. We know most guests/dancers don't enjoy the spotlight or the knowledge that they are being recorded.

How long will our Videographer stay?
Depending on the package you get, we typically arrive at the church an hour before the ceremony is set to begin and record the entire wedding from guests arriving right down to the receiving line and formal church exit. With each package offered, we stay at the reception for up to 4 hours. Additional time can be added, ask for details.

Will our final DVD have a menu and chapter markers?
Absolutely! All our wedding videos have a main menu set to music with chapter markers of select points in the video to give you quick and easy navigation through your DVD.

How long will the finished video be?
Again, this depends on which package you choose. Typically for the "standard video package" we record about 4-5 hours of video footage, which is then edited down to include the special moments and events of the day...this usually ends up being approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours in length. A shorter 8-15min overview edit is available as well. This avoids fast forwarding and is great for quick viewing with friends & family who don't have time to view the main edit.

How far will Black Tie Entertainment travel to video a wedding?
For each package offered, there is no travel charge within 50 miles of downtown Syracuse. We will gladly travel any distance beyond that for a nominal travel charge for our time and mileage depending on your location - please ask for details.

When will we receive the finished DVD?
Depending on the package, we are typically able to give you the final edited DVD within three months after your wedding. Sometimes this timeframe is shorter but it depends on the volume of production we are into at the time. Check with us for details.

Is a deposit required to secure our wedding date?
Yes. We require a $200 non-refundable deposit to hold your date along with a signed contract. We only shoot one wedding video per day and dates are secured on a first come, first serve basis.

What forms of payment do you accept and can we meet to discuss details?
We accept personal check, cash, and PayPal. We can meet at any time to go over details and answer any questions you may have. When is the balance due? The remaining balance is due one week before the wedding.
